IMBIL SKATE PARK

Just a hop, skip and a jump from Imbil Camping Retreat, the Imbil Skate Park is a great entertainment option for the kids! The Skate Park offers ramps, rails, boxes and much more. It is suitable for skateboards, roller blades/skates, scooters and bikes, and it's only 100m up the road from our Retreat.

RAIL TRAIL

The spectacular Rail Trail provides the most amazing walk or ride through our beautiful State Forest, farmland and Bellbird habitat. It is a gentle, undulating and meandering track which is approximately 8.6 km's to Brooloo, return. A must for any hiker!

RIDE ON MARY

Ride on Mary offers kayak and bike hire -- as well as bush adventures through the Mary Valley. These activities can be self guided or there are tour options to choose from. Operated by a friendly local crew, check out their website to learn more! https://www.rideonmary.com

IMBIL SUNDAY MARKETS

These popular markets are locally run and feature produce ranging from plants, seedlings,  fruits and vegies. Handmade breads, essential oils, jewellery and pet treats along with other crafts may also be available for purchase. The markets are open for business in the main street every Sunday from 8am to 2pm.

IMBIL GROWERS MARKETS
The Imbil Growers Market is held at the Bowls Club every Second Saturday 12noon-3.30pm.

DAGUN GROWERS MARKETS

Specialising in freshly picked seasonal organic fruits and vegies, the Dagun Growers Markets offer the trademarked Care Farmed produce which focuses on growers who use non-toxic  sprays or fertilizers and minimum handling. They are held every Saturday afternoon from 3pm at the Dagun Heritage Railway Station.

AMAMOOR MARKETS

The Amamoor Markets are also a wonderful opportunity to meander in and around stalls and check out the local produce and crafts. They held are at the Amamoor Railway Station and open every Saturday and Sunday.

MARY VALLEY RATTLER

The historic Mary Valley Rattler steam train operates every Saturday and Sunday. There are morning and afternoon trains arriving at the Amamoor Station. Check out  www.maryvalleyrattler.com.au to learn more!

FIG TREE WALK

Enjoy a relaxing 1.1km stroll along the Fig Tree Walk. You will find this sealed boardwalk track 6.5km south of Kenilworth on the Kenilworth-Maleny Road. The easy wheel chair friendly walk meanders through the riverine rainforest close to the junction of Little Yabba Creek and Mary River. Wildlife abounds so listen carefully and you may hear a Wompoo pigeon in the branches of the magnificent Moreton Bay fig. Watch out for skinks sunning themselves on a rock and look closely, or you may see some of our native birds fossicking on the rainforest’s floor. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the Yabba Creek after your ‘nature’ stroll or stop off at the Bellbird Café kiosk which is across the road from the camping area (open on weekends only).

MARY VALLEY SCENIC DRIVE

Take a leisurely drive through the magical Mary Valley countryside and discover the heritage towns of Imbil, Kandanga and Amamoor. Rolling hills interspersed with farms and rainforests make this picturesque drive well worthwhile. Don’t forget to take a break at one of the many scenic outlooks and riverside picnic spots that are dotted  throughout the Valley.

 

 

AMAMOOR STATE FOREST

The Amamoor State Forest is a nature lover’s paradise. Producing some of Queensland’s finest hoop and bunya pines, the forest is also home to more than 120 native bird species. You can either drive through the forest or take a leisurely walk along the many creek side trails. You may even glimpse an elusive platypus lurking under a log when you take the 300 metre long ‘Platypus Walk’ after stopping at the Amama day-use area. Venture along the 30 minute ‘Rainforest Walk’ from the Cedar Grove Camping area and you will enjoy the coolness of the sub-tropical rainforest. This majestic forest is home to large red cedar trees, figs and piccabeen palms. Finish your stroll with a cool dip in the Amamoor Creek’s swimming hole at the end of the walk.

HISTORIC COUNTRY PUBS

Like most Australian country pubs the Mary Valley’s historic pubs do not disappoint. Why not make your first stop our local Imbil Pub, the Railway Hotel. These pubs are often the focal point of every town and are rich in history. Offering good old fashioned country hospitality, cold beer and a hearty meal, the Mary Valley pubs are a good place to experience the flavour of the region.

CANOE OR KAYAK ON THE MARY RIVER

Supporting an amazingly beautiful wetland area, the Mary River and its tributaries offer stunning places to explore by canoe or kayak. A number of significant and endangered species live in the Mary River catchment and include the Mary River turtle, some species of fish, frogs and butterflies. If you make an early start you will enjoy the stillness and quiet of this beautiful place and chances are you will see platypus, wallabies and the brightly coloured Azure Kingfisher diving for his breakfast. Bring your own kayak, or Ride On Mary will take you on a kayak or canoe tour to the most suitable drop-in point and pick you up at the end of your river journey.

BORUMBA DAM

A visit to Borumba Dam for a picnic is a must. Boasting great swimming and fishing holes, Borumba Dam is a great place for water fun as well as enjoying the local wildlife. Borumba’s high cliff faces and overhanging trees allow for relaxing day-time lure fishing and early morning paddlers will see an abundance of birdlife and nature at its best.
